Blood, the introduction to Kendrick Lamar’s album, DAMN, is a metaphorical poem concerning the issues with police brutality in America. Lamar, after being called out over FOX News for portraying “obscene” lyrics at the BET awards ceremony, responded with this track. The idea is that Kendrick compares the broadcasters and other’s within their position to a blind woman; which represents their ignorance to see the problem that unfolds before their eyes. Their irresponsibility to accept the fact gets Kendrick "shot", meaning people who are affected by police brutality continue to be hurt as there is no attention to aid the cry.
